In short: Sell My Tech is a UK specialist buyer of Linn — the Scottish high-end. The headline is the Sondek LP12, the most valuable single item we buy: we price every era and tier (Majik, Akurate and Klimax LP12), with the power supply (Valhalla, Lingo or Radikal) and the tonearm (Akito, Ittok or Ekos) all counted toward the figure, and a documented service history lifting it again. We also buy the DS and Selekt DSM network streamers, Exakt active systems, and Klimax, Akurate and Majik amps. Free collection across the UK, paid on exchange.

Our Linn buying process

Sell your Linn in four steps

Four steps. From the details to payment, with free insured collection across the UK.

01

Tell us the Linn gear

The model and tier (e.g. an Akurate LP12, a Selekt DSM or a Klimax power amp), the LP12's power supply and tonearm, any recent service, condition and your postcode. Photos of the plinth and rear panel help.

02

Get your offer

A market-led figure set by the LP12 spec and era, the streamer generation, boxing, service history and condition. Turntables are priced as a build, box by box. Usually back within hours.

03

Accept & book collection

Free, careful collection from your door at a slot that suits you. An LP12 is lifted, packed and carried by hand — the suspension, lid and arm get padded properly, never trusted to a courier.

04

Get paid on exchange

We set the deck level, confirm the platter spins true and the streamer outputs cleanly, check it matches your description, then pay you straight away by bank transfer.

UK Linn specialist

What you get when a specialist does the buying

No marketplace risk, no posting heavy kit, no lowball trade-in. A buyer who knows what your gear is really worth.

Paid on exchange

Faster Payment by bank transfer the moment we have set up the Linn and verified it. Funds clear in under 2 hours for most UK banks — no waiting on a marketplace payout.

LP12 carried by hand

A suspended LP12 is the worst deck to post — the sub-chassis, arm and lid all hate a courier. We dismount the platter, immobilise the suspension, pad the arm and carry it ourselves.

Built decks, handled right

Plinth, top-plate, power supply and arm logged separately, the build photographed, channels and speed checked, chain of custody recorded. We treat an LP12 like the heirloom it often is.

Market-led offers

Benchmarked against sold prices for that exact Linn build — eBay-sold, the Pink Fish Media classifieds and UK Audio Mart. Current figures by spec and era, no haggling.

We read the LP12 spec

A Radikal against a Lingo, an Ekos SE against an Akito, Cirkus and Karousel bearings, Majik against Klimax tiers. We price the actual build in front of us, upgrade by upgrade.

Support that replies

Real people who know a Selekt DSM from an Akurate DS, and Katalyst from Organik. Most quote requests answered within 2 hours during UK business hours.

Every kind of Linn

The headline

Sondek LP12 — Majik, Akurate, Klimax

The single most valuable item we buy. The tier sets the floor — Majik, Akurate or Klimax LP12 — then the build lifts it: the power supply, the tonearm, the bearing and cartridge. Tell us the spec, or send a photo of the plinth and top-plate and we will identify it.

LP12 driveline

Power supplies & tonearms

The figure turns on these. Valhalla, Lingo and the Radikal motor supply each value differently, as do the Akito, Ittok and Ekos arms and the Cirkus and Karousel bearings. List every part of the driveline — and any documented service — for an accurate offer.

Streamers

DS & Selekt DSM network players

The Majik, Akurate and Klimax DS and DSM streamers, plus the Selekt DSM. The DAC generation drives the price — note whether it is the Katalyst or the newer Organik board, and whether the Selekt has the integrated amp module fitted.

Amps & active

Klimax, Akurate amps & Exakt

Klimax Solo and Twin power amps, the Akurate and Majik amplification, and Exakt active crossover systems and Exaktbox units. Active Linn setups are quoted as a system — list every box and the speakers they drive.

Faulty & spares

Faulty, noisy or due a service

A motor that hums, a worn bearing, a sagging suspension, a streamer that has dropped off the network or a deck overdue its setup — none of these stop us buying a desirable Linn. Tell us the fault and we will still quote for service and resale.

Also buying

Speakers, cartridges & full systems

Linn speakers from Majik to the active Klimax, the Krystal and Kandid cartridges, spare power supplies, and complete Linn systems. Clearing a full setup? We quote every box together as one lot in a single visit.

Linn selling FAQ

Questions from sellers, answered

Common questions from people selling their Linn. Answered honestly.

What is my Linn worth?
It turns on the exact item and its build, so we do not publish a single figure. A Klimax LP12 with a Radikal and an Ekos arm, or a current Organik-DAC Selekt DSM, sits at the top; a Majik LP12 or an older Majik DS sits lower. The price guide above gives current indicative buy-back bands by line — send the spec for a firm offer.
How much is a Sondek LP12 worth, and what drives the price?
More than any other item we buy, and the figure is built up from the parts. The tier sets the floor — Majik, Akurate or Klimax — then the power supply (Valhalla, Lingo or Radikal), the tonearm (Akito, Ittok or Ekos), the bearing (Cirkus or Karousel) and the cartridge each add to it. A documented service history lifts the lot. List the full build and we price the real deck.
Does LP12 service history actually add value?
Yes, and it is one of the biggest single drivers. An LP12 set up and serviced by a Linn specialist — suspension bounce, arm alignment, bearing and belt all attended to — is worth materially more than an identical deck of unknown setup, because the buyer is not facing a service bill. Keep any invoices or dealer records and mention them; they move the figure up.
How do you price a Linn — there is no fixed table?
Right. Linn value turns on the model, the build, the generation, boxing and condition, so a one-size figure would mislead. An LP12 is priced as a build — plinth, supply, arm and bearing each count — and a streamer on its DAC generation. Send the spec or a few photos and we come back with a clear, market-led figure; the bands above are a starting point.
Do you buy Linn DS and Selekt DSM streamers, and does the DAC generation matter?
Yes — the Majik, Akurate and Klimax DS and DSM players and the Selekt DSM. The DAC generation is the main price driver: a Katalyst board values differently from the newer Organik, and a Selekt with the integrated amp module is worth more than the source-only version. Tell us the generation, or send a photo of the rear panel and we will identify it.
Can I sell a faulty Linn — a humming motor, worn bearing or sagging suspension?
Yes. A motor hum, a notchy or worn bearing, a suspension that has lost its bounce, a streamer that has dropped off the network, or a deck overdue its setup — none of these stop a sale on a desirable Linn. We buy for service and resale and tell you exactly what the work costs against the figure. Describe it honestly and we will still quote.
Does the LP12 era matter — an older deck against a current one?
It does, but era matters less than build on an LP12, because the deck is designed to be upgraded. A 1980s plinth fitted with a Radikal, a Karousel bearing and an Ekos arm can outvalue a newer deck on a basic spec. We price the deck as it stands today, by its parts — tell us what is fitted, not only the year it was bought.
Should I include the lid, boxes and original parts?
If you have them, yes — the dust cover, original packaging and any superseded parts all help, and an LP12's matching power supply and arm are essential to the figure. Linn boxes are awkward to ship, so having them matters. If the lid or boxes are long gone we still buy; mention what you have so the quote is accurate.
Is collection free, and how do you move an LP12 safely?
Always free. We come to you — same-day across Yorkshire, next-day across the rest of the UK — and pack the LP12 ourselves: the platter comes off, the suspension is immobilised, the arm and lid are padded, and the deck is carried by hand. You are never posting a suspended turntable. Submit your postcode in the quote form and we will confirm the earliest slot.
Do you buy a whole Linn system together?
Yes. If you are clearing or upgrading a full setup we quote every box as one lot — usually worth more than splitting it. The LP12 belongs in our Sell My Turntables category, Naim is our other premium peer if you are selling both, and the Sell My Hi-Fi hub covers the streamers, amps and speakers you might be selling alongside.
About Sell My Tech

Run by people who know the gear. Specialists in Linn.

Sell My Tech is a UK specialist buyer of Linn hi-fi, and we have traded in high-end Scottish audio across Yorkshire and the rest of the UK for years. We know what moves a Sondek LP12 figure — a Radikal over a Lingo, an Ekos arm over an Akito, a Karousel bearing, and above all a stamped service history. We read the same demand on the DS and Selekt DSM streamers, where the Katalyst or Organik DAC generation sets the price. Every box is valued on the live resale market, never a generic screen.

Sold my Technics SL1210s

Sold my Technics SL1210s. The whole process was really straightforward. I sent the details through the website and got a fair quote back pretty quickly. Once I accepted, they arranged collection for the same day in Leeds. Communication was good throughout and payment was made straight after the unit was collected and checked. Really smooth experience overall and I'd happily recommend them.
