Sell your DJ gear, hi-fi & turntables in York.

In short: York isn't a clubbing city the way Leeds or Sheffield are — it's a walled medieval one with two universities and a lot of tidy kit behind Georgian front doors. Since 2015 we've collected Technics, CDJs and hi-fi right across York, forty minutes up the A64 from base — from the student streets round Heslington and Tang Hall to the townhouses of Bishopthorpe Road and Clifton. Free collection, same-day, and the money's sorted before we leave.

The York scene

Why there's good gear round here

York's strength isn't a famous club scene — Fibbers and the live circuit aside, it's never been Sheffield or Leeds for nightlife. What it has is two universities, York and York St John, pushing thousands of students through Heslington, Tang Hall and Holgate every year; a strong wedding-and-function DJ trade serving the city's events business; and a lot of money in the older suburbs. That mix means two things turn up for us regularly: lightly-used DJ gear from graduates clearing out, and quality hi-fi separates from the townhouses round Bootham and Bishopthorpe Road.

Selling in York — FAQ

Questions from sellers in York

The things people round here actually ask before they sell.

Can you get inside the walls (YO1) — it's pedestrianised and tight for vehicles?
Yes, with a bit of planning. The centre within the walls has timed access and loading restrictions, so tell us the address and we'll sort a permitted loading window, bring the gear out to the van ourselves, and keep it quick so we're not holding up the Shambles.
How long does it take you to reach York from your base?
About forty minutes, straight up the A64 from Leeds, so York is a comfortable same-day patch — the centre out to Acomb, Clifton and Heslington. Send photos in the morning and we'll usually be over the same day.
I'm a student at the University of York (YO10) moving out — can you collect before I leave?
Yes, a regular run for us round Heslington and Tang Hall. Give us your move-out date and we'll book a slot before you go, carry the deck out of halls or the shared house, and pay you on the spot. No dragging it across campus to a car.
Do you buy hi-fi separates from the older suburbs — Bootham, Fulford, Bishopthorpe Road?
Very much so; north and south York is where the good separates surface. Naim, Linn, Rega, Marantz — send the model and condition and we'll quote it, then collect from Bootham, Fulford or anywhere in the city same-day, alongside any decks you're selling.
Is parking a problem for a collection near the centre?
It can be, so we plan for it. The centre is mostly permit and short-stay, but we'll find the nearest legal loading spot, ring ahead, and do the carry ourselves — you don't move the gear or feed a meter while we sort it.
Can you collect out at Haxby, Poppleton or the ring-road villages?
Yes — the outer villages off the A1237 ring road are all same-day for us. Just give us the postcode and the model and we'll confirm a slot that works around you.
Will a race day at York Racecourse affect my collection?
On a Knavesmire race day the southern approaches and Tadcaster Road can get busy; if your slot clashes we'll come earlier or message a revised time. Most of the city is unaffected, so it rarely changes a pickup.
