Sell my Turntables — Free UK collection.

UK specialist buyer of turntables — decks & record players. Working, faulty or for parts. Free insured collection across the UK, paid on exchange.

✓ Years in the trade✓ Free insured collection✓ Paid on exchange
Part of our hi-fi buy-back · UK-wide collection

In short: Sell My Tech buys turntables and record players across the UK — direct-drive DJ decks, belt-drive audiophile tables from the likes of Rega, Pro-Ject, Thorens and Linn, and older idler and belt-drive decks. The deck is half the story, so we factor in the cartridge, tonearm, plinth and any service history when we price it. Boxed with the original lid and the right headshell sits at the top. Free insured collection, paid on exchange. Years in the hi-fi trade.

Our Turntables buying process

Sell your Turntables in four steps

Four steps. From the details to payment, with free insured collection across the UK.

01

Tell us the deck

Make and model (e.g. Rega Planar 3, Technics SL-1210, Pro-Ject Debut), the fitted cartridge and tonearm, condition, whether it's boxed, and your postcode.

02

Get your offer

We price against the live used hi-fi market. Motor type, the cartridge and tonearm, cosmetic condition and any service history all feed the figure.

03

Accept & book collection

Choose a slot that suits you, home or office. Collection is free and fully insured, so a heavy plinth or a delicate vintage deck never goes near a courier counter.

04

Get paid on exchange

We check the deck spins true, the arm tracks and it matches your description, then pay you straight away by bank transfer. No waiting for a marketplace sale.

UK Turntables specialist

What you get when a specialist does the buying

No marketplace risk, no posting heavy kit, no lowball trade-in. A buyer who knows what your gear is really worth.

Paid on exchange

Faster Payment by bank transfer the moment we've checked the deck over. No staged payouts and no marketplace fees eating into your figure.

Free, insured collection

A turntable is the worst thing to post: heavy platters, sprung subchassis and an arm that hates a knock. We collect it in person, fully insured.

We value the whole deck

The cartridge, tonearm and any aftermarket upgrades can carry real value of their own. We price them in rather than quoting the bare chassis.

Market-led offers

Every quote is benchmarked against current eBay-sold, Audio Trader and HifiShark figures for the same model and trim. Current numbers, not a token trade-in.

DJ, audiophile and vintage

Direct-drive club decks, belt-drive audiophile tables and older idler-wheel players. Three different markets, and we know what each one fetches.

People who actually spin records

Real responses, not bots. We can tell a re-tipped MM from a tired stylus and a genuine lid from a generic one, so the quote reflects the real deck.

Turntables buy-back prices

Indicative Turntables buy-back prices

Typical UK pay-the-seller ranges by deck type and condition. A turntable's figure swings on the make and model, the motor type, the cartridge and tonearm fitted, and what's boxed. Treat these as starting points; your exact quote depends on the deck.

Model Price
Entry belt-drive (Pro-Ject Debut, Rega Planar 1, Audio-Technica)
Popular starter audiophile decks. Boxed with a healthy stylus sits at the top.
£60 – £180
Mid belt-drive (Rega Planar 2/3, Pro-Ject Carbon/X-range)
Steady demand. A good cartridge and clean cosmetics lift the figure.
£180 – £450
Direct-drive DJ decks (incl. Technics SL-1200/1210 — see Technics page)
Single-deck guide. Technics priced model-by-model on our Sell My Technics page.
£200 – £500
Higher-end belt-drive (Rega Planar 6/8, Thorens TD-series, Clearaudio)
Cartridge, arm and any upgrades drive it. Boxed and serviced best.
£350 – £900
Linn LP12 (spec-dependent)
Entirely spec-led — tonearm, cartridge, power supply and Linn upgrade history.
£500 – £2,000
Vintage idler & belt decks (Garrard, Lenco, classic Japanese)
Condition and a working arm led. Sought-after models sit well above this.
£40 – £350
Loose cartridges, tonearms & phono stages
Priced on the specific part. MC cartridges with stylus life and rare arms most.
£20 – £400
Indicative UK buy-back ranges for turntables and record players in good working order. A turntable's value is led by the deck, the cartridge and the tonearm together, so a high-end audiophile table with a quality cartridge sits well above an entry deck. Direct-drive Technics decks are quoted model-by-model on our Sell My Technics page. Your exact figure is set after we check the deck on collection.
What affects price
  • + Original box, lid and paperwork
  • + Quality cartridge with stylus life left
  • + Upgraded or sought-after tonearm
  • + Recent service / re-tip history
  • + Clean plinth and unmarked platter
  • Worn, chipped or missing stylus
  • Motor or speed faults / rumble
  • Tonearm bearing play or tracking issues
  • Cracked or missing dust cover
  • Heavy cosmetic wear to plinth

Turntables selling FAQ

Questions from sellers, answered

Common questions from people selling their Turntables. Answered honestly.

What's my turntable worth?
It depends on the make and model, the motor type, the cartridge and tonearm fitted, cosmetic condition, whether it's boxed and any service history. The price guide above gives current indicative buy-back bands by deck type. A boxed audiophile deck with a healthy cartridge sits near the top. Send the exact model for a firm figure.
Do you buy both DJ turntables and audiophile record players?
Yes, both. Direct-drive DJ decks like the Technics SL-1200 and SL-1210 sell into one market, while belt-drive audiophile tables from Rega, Pro-Ject, Thorens and Linn sell into another, and we price each to its own demand. Older vintage idler and belt-drive players too. Tell us the model and we'll quote it.
I have Technics SL-1200s or SL-1210s. Where do I sell those?
We buy them, and they have a page of their own. Technics decks are common enough and consistent enough in price that we list model-by-model figures on the Sell My Technics page, including matched pairs. Head there for the MK2, M3D, MK5 and MK7 bands, or send your details here and we'll route it.
How do you work out the price for my turntable?
Five things mainly: the make and model, the motor type (direct-drive, belt or idler), the cartridge and tonearm fitted, cosmetic condition, and what's included such as the lid, headshell and box. Recent service history helps. Mention each in the quote form for the fastest, most accurate offer.
Does the cartridge or tonearm affect the offer?
Often a lot. A quality moving-coil or a sought-after moving-magnet cartridge with life left in the stylus can be worth a meaningful share of the figure on its own, and an upgraded tonearm lifts it further. Tell us exactly what's fitted, and whether the stylus has been re-tipped, so the offer reflects it.
Can I sell a faulty or non-working record player?
Yes. A dead motor, a worn main bearing, a tonearm that won't track or cue, a seized speed change, a missing lid or a snapped belt, none of these stop us buying. We take decks for repair and parts. Describe the fault honestly and we'll tell you exactly how it affects the figure.
What if I don't have the original box or lid?
We still buy. The original box, the dust cover and the correct headshell or paperwork each add a little, especially on audiophile and collectable decks, but they aren't essential. Tell us what's present so the quote is accurate and there are no surprises on collection.
Will you collect a heavy or delicate deck, and is it free?
Yes, and collection is always free and fully insured. A turntable is awkward to pack, with a sprung subchassis or a separate platter and a fragile arm, so we collect it in person rather than risk a courier. Same-day across Yorkshire and next-day or scheduled across the rest of the UK.
Do you buy other hi-fi separates as well?
Yes. Turntables are one part of our hi-fi buy-back. We also take amplifiers, speakers, CD players and other separates. If you're clearing a full system, see the main Sell My Hi-Fi hub or list everything in one quote and we'll price the whole stack and collect it together.
How quickly do I get paid?
On exchange. Once the deck is with us, checked over and confirmed against your description, you're paid immediately by bank transfer. For most UK banks the funds clear within a couple of hours. No waiting weeks for a private buyer and no chargeback risk hanging over the sale.

Sold my Technics SL1210s

Sold my Technics SL1210s. The whole process was really straightforward. I sent the details through the website and got a fair quote back pretty quickly. Once I accepted, they arranged collection for the same day in Leeds. Communication was good throughout and payment was made straight after the unit was collected and checked. Really smooth experience overall and I'd happily recommend them.
